This before and after shows why the conventional vented crawl space theory is not practical. You see, a lot of home builders figure installing some vents in the walls, placing a thin plastic "barrier" over a gravel floor, and insulating with fiberglass in the floor joists are enough for a crawl space. After all, they are following a coded standard, and maybe that's where the problem lies. Either way, vented crawl spaces let moisture run rampant, and only really work in climates that are dry 24/7. By encapsulating the crawl space, as seen here, moisture is eliminated. This means healthy breathing air, and a healthy long-lasting crawl space. Also note the silver insulation panels we installed along the wall, which eliminates the need for nasty fiberglass in the ceiling.
This crawl space was subjected to crazy amounts of moisture before we encapsulated it. Our moisture barrier called CleanSpace is able to block out moisture and reduce humidity levels. We also installed SilverGlo insulation wall panels to help control the energy bills the homeowners were paying.
The sidewalk leading up to this home in Shelbyville, KY was sinking into the soil. To reverse this process, we injected polyurethane foam under the sidewalk. The foam is so strong that as it expands under the concrete, it is able to raise the slabs. By using calculated amounts of foam for each different slab, we are able to get the sidewalk level again. After everything is leveled, we then sealed the slabs together at the seams. This process was way cheaper than replacing the sidewalk completely, and for that, the homeowner was very happy with the outcome.
In order to control the high humidity levels for this crawl space in Wilmore, KY, we installed a large vapor barrier all across the dirt floor and all across the walls. You see, when we install our CleanSpace liner, we make sure to seal it off with tape everywhere in the crawl space, even the concrete piers. This way, there is effectively no way moisture can seep up through the crawl space. We also added a dehumidification system to ensure moisture would not be present in the crawl space any longer.
