Water leaks had corrupted this basement causing stains, musty smells, and cracks. We relieved this basement in Gray, KY, by draining the foundation of hydrostatic pressure to bring comfort back to this basement. The two most important pieces to our waterproofing system are our subfloor WaterGuard drains and one of our sump pumps. The subfloor drains prevent clogging and help channel groundwater to the sump pump. The sump pump works efficiently to then discharge all the collected water far and away from the home. By relieving this basement of water pressure, the homeowners gained some peace of mind.
This crawl space was having trouble with moisture control. We fixed this problem by wrapping the crawl space in our CleanSpace lining, which is able to seal out moisture due to its inorganic composition. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which is built for keeping large spaces completely dry. We also added some rim joist insulation and some vent covers. Moisture won't be a problem any longer for this crawl space.

Hydrostatic pressure is the most common issue for basements that we see. When your foundation was first built, the builders have to dig up soil around the foundation and then have to backfill back around that foundation with the same soil. Because the soil was dug up, it's not as compact. This creates a clay bowl effect around your home, where water is more inclined to saturate the soil around your foundation because the soil was once broken up. With all this water sitting on the outside of your foundation, it creates a tremendous amount of pressure on the walls. In order to relieve this water pressure, we installed an interior waterproofing system that invites the built up water into the sump pump, and then the sump pump discharges that water far away from the home. We then installed PowerBraces on the bowed wall to make sure the wall is stabilized for good. Lastly, we installed BrightWall panels to cover up the stained block walls.
