Home Settling in Whitley City, Kentucky
During the summer of 2024, many regions in Central Kentucky experienced a drought. When the rich clay soil dried up, part of the home sunk into the open voids left from the shrinking. You can see how dry the soil is from this photo, taken upon inspection. It got so dry, we were advising homeowners to water their foundation with a garden hose. This can help prevent the soil from shrinking too far. Be cautious when doing this though, as too much water could cause your foundation to leak.
