Photo Album: Helical Piers Resolve Foundation Problems for Home in Hazard, KY
Our helical pier system permanently stabilizes your home's foundation, and in many cases, can lift your home back to a level position. Steel piers are mechanically screwed into the ground until they reach stable soil. After the drilling process, brackets are attached to the pier and to the home's foundation footing. This transfers the weight of your home to the pier, permanently stabilizing your home. We can then try and lift your home with hydraulics, which may be able to close all the cracks and other gaps caused by settling. Lastly, we backfill all the trenches, completely concealing the pier system.
Sinking Foundation
This was one of the corners of the home that required piers. Under the deck to the right is a large crack in the shadows.
Piers Installed
The footer wasn't that deep into the soil, which was probably why the house was sinking. The frost line in Kentucky is usually around two to three feet deep into the soil, and you usually want your footer deeper than that.
Back Filled Soil
After we backfill the soil, it takes some time for the soil to settle. We like these pictures because often times, you can see why the soil is troubled. In this case, it looks like the soil was very dry.
