When installing a full interior perimeter waterproofing system, it's important to have a trench drain near doors leading outside. Stairs outside these doors are prone to ushering water towards your basement floor, and so its important to capture this water with a trench drain before it reaches the basement. This trench drain is connected to WaterGuard drains, which go beneath the floor and up against the basement walls. The drainage system as a whole then leads all the water to a SuperSump sump pump.

The dirt floor in this crawl space in East Bernstadt, KY, was leaking lots of moisture. Through a process called the stack effect, where differences in air pressure cause air to move upwards throughout a home, musty smells were reaching the upper levels of the home. We installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier across the floor, removed all the musty fiberglass insulation, and installed SilverGlo insulation panels along the wall. Finally, we added our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to top the project off. The result of this repair was a couple of happy homeowners who can now look forward to breathing clean air.

Crawl spaces can provide useful storage space or even necessary access to a home's wiring or ductwork. Unfortunately, in Kentucky, most crawl spaces have dirt floors that are prone to moisture problems and fluctuating temperatures. This can contribute to mold and moisture issues, including wood rot, which can lead to compromised structural integrity.
The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky offers complete crawl space repair and preservation services, including crawl space encapsulation, crawl space waterproofing, and crawl space insulation. We install effective, proven durable dehumidifiers, air purifiers, vapor barriers, and crawl space jacks to improve structural stability. Improving the supports in your crawl space can also lift or prevent sagging floors in your home above the crawl space.
Foundation problems are intimidating, costly, and stressful for homeowners. Luckily we make the process as easy as possible, from evaluation to solution and cleanup. This retaining wall in East Bernstadt was in need of a structural repair. The weight of the soil on the opposite side of the wall was causing the wall to bow outwards. We started by digging down the retaining wall to expose both sides of the wall. We then installed six helical tie-backs with wall anchors to tighten the wall back out. These tie-backs were installed laterally into the soil, which gave our team the proper resistance to be able to straighten the wall back out. We also made sure to install a gravity drain at the bottom of the wall to prevent moisture from deteriorating the wall in the future, prolonging the life expectancy of this retaining wall dramatically.
This home in East Bernstadt, KY, had a crawl space that was completely overwhelmed by standing water. When our crew arrived, there was a large pool of water surrounding the old sump pump, which had stopped working altogether. The fiberglass insulation above was sagging and soaked, and debris had collected throughout the space.
We began by clearing out all the wet insulation and debris to open up the area for proper drainage. Then we replaced the failed pump with our SmartSump system, designed specifically for crawl spaces to handle both groundwater and incidental leaks efficiently. Once the sump was in place, our team covered the entire uneven, hilly floor with durable dimpled drainage matting. This layer created continuous flow channels under the crawl space, allowing any future water to move easily toward the new sump pump instead of pooling in low spots.
To finish the project, we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air clean and dry year-round. What started as a wet, musty crawl space is now a well-drained and controlled environment built to stay that way.
A homeowner in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, noticed water leaking through a finished basement wall — and more concerning, the wall was starting to bow inward. The combination of water intrusion and structural pressure had created a serious issue that needed immediate attention.
To address both the moisture and the structural concern, we installed a full-perimeter WaterGuard® drainage system along the leaking wall to collect and direct water to a new SuperSump® pump system, ensuring the basement stays dry during heavy rains. We also applied a CleanSpace® vapor barrier over the wall to help seal out moisture and direct any seepage into the drainage system behind it.
To stabilize the bowing wall, we installed a series of PowerBraces® — strong steel I-beams that brace the wall and help prevent further movement. Over time, these braces can be gradually tightened to attempt to straighten the wall back toward its original position.
Thanks to this combination of waterproofing and structural repair, the homeowner now has a dry, stable basement with long-term protection against future problems.
Customer contacted The Basement Doctor after noticing moisture in their crawlspace of their 20 year old home. Upon inspection, our team found no sump pump was installed in the two foot tall crawlspace with a block foundation and access to the outside.
The team came up with a proposal to install CleanSpace, a condensation pump and cap it off with an Everlast Crawl Space Door.
