As a result from all the hydrostatic pressure this basement foundation was receiving, the walls were bowing in and leaking water. In the before picture you can see the chipped paint, cracks, bowing, and the pool of water on the floor. In the after picture you can see PowerBraces holding the bowing walls up, CleanSpace walls covering the once dirty wall, fresh concrete over the hidden WaterGuard drains all around the perimeter of the basement, and a TripleSafe sump pump all the way in the corner.

Don’t let a flash flood on the Licking River or the oversaturated Harrison County clay ruin your basement. As the “City of Bridges,” Cynthiana residents know how quickly the landscape can become waterlogged. A wet basement can wreak havoc on your entire home, from the historic limestone foundations near the Rohs Opera House to the newer residential builds near Flat Run Veterans Park. In our part of Kentucky, the damage often starts long before you see a flood. The heavy clay soil common in the Bluegrass region traps moisture against your walls, leading to mold growth, musty odors, and eventual structural damage. It doesn't have to be standing puddles of water to be a problem, even the "sweating" walls caused by high Kentucky humidity or drips from basement windows after a heavy spring downpour can rot wood and weaken your foundation over time. We install industrial-grade sump pumps, interior drainage systems, and vapor barriers specifically engineered to handle Cynthiana’s unique water table and keep your lower level dry year-round. Our basement waterproofing services and products include:
Insulation is critical to keep the right air in and the wrong air out of your home. This also goes for moisture— proper insulation can address issues you're having with indoor mold and a lack of moisture control. If your home has insufficient insulation, cold spots, hot spots, or is totally inefficient with the HVAC system, we may have just the solution. We offer insulation for many areas of the home, including:
If you're eager to reduce your heating and cooling costs or are sick of your home feeling drafty, give us a call and schedule your free home insulation estimate.
Crawl spaces are a common feature in many Cynthiana homes, from the historic residences near the Rohs Opera House to the newer developments out toward Oddville. While these spaces are meant for storage or utility access, the reality of Harrison County’s geography is that most crawl spaces were built with dirt floors. In our region, a dirt floor acts like a sponge, soaking up the heavy groundwater common in the Licking River basin. At The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky, we know that Kentucky humidity is more than just a summer discomfort; it’s a direct threat to your home’s structure. When Cynthiana’s humid air meets the cooler temperatures under your house, it creates condensation that leads to mold, wood rot, and "musty" smells that drift into your living areas. Furthermore, because Cynthiana is built on expansive clay soil, the supports under your home can shift and sink over time, leading to the dreaded "bouncy" or sagging floors. Our Cynthiana Crawl Space Solutions include:
Living in the “City of Bridges,” we are all too familiar with how quickly the South Fork of the Licking River can rise after a heavy Bluegrass downpour. But you don’t have to live in a flood zone to experience water issues. In Cynthiana, our dense Harrison County clay soil acts like a sponge, trapping moisture against your foundation walls. This creates intense hydrostatic pressure that forces water through even the smallest hairline cracks. A wet basement can wreak havoc on your entire home, from the historic stone foundations near Pike Street to the modern builds closer to Harrison County High School. Whether it’s standing water after a spring storm or that lingering Kentucky humidity causing musty smells and mold, moisture is a silent threat to your home’s structural integrity. Even if you don't see puddles, damp walls or drips from basement windows are warning signs that the local water table is putting stress on your home. We provide Cynthiana homeowners with industrial-grade sump pumps, interior drainage systems, and heavy-duty vapor barriers designed to withstand our region's unique "freeze-thaw" cycles. Our basement waterproofing services include:

A homeowner in Cynthiana, Kentucky contacted us after dealing with repeated water seepage along the basement perimeter during heavy rain. The dampness was creating musty odors and making it difficult to use the space for storage.
Our team installed a full-perimeter WaterGuard drainage system to collect groundwater at the wall-floor joint and direct it to a new TripleSafe sump pump. This system provides three levels of protection, including a battery backup pump for peace of mind during power outages. To control humidity and prevent mold growth, we added a SaniDry dehumidifier, designed to keep the air clean and dry year-round.
Outside, we finished the job by installing two IceGuard outlets and a pop-up discharge outlet to ensure the system can release water safely, even in freezing weather. The result is a clean, dry basement that’s protected from moisture in every season—another successful waterproofing project in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
A homeowner in Cynthiana, Kentucky noticed water and mold starting in the crawlspace area of their home and called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky for a solution to this problem. Our inspector, Damon, met with the customer and recommended CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, and an EverLast Door.
CleanSpace is a polyethylene liner, similar to a pool liner, that is attached to the floors and the walls of the crawlspace. Along with the recommended products, the crawlspace will be protected against high humidity, insects and critters, odors, mold and wood rot, and creates a healthier space. CleanSpace vent covers and an EverLast door will help to isolate the crawlspace from the outside of your home. The SaniDry Sedona is a dehumidifier that will keep the humidity low and the EverLast door is a crawlspace door for access into the crawlspace area. Now, the homeowner will not have to worry about water and mold in the crawlspace.
