A homeowner in Carlisle, Kentucky called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky to find a solution to a problem they were having with a foundation wall that was shifting. After meeting with the homeowner, the certified inspector recommended that the homeowner have Helical Piers installed. Helical piers are mechanically screwed into the ground until they reach competent soil. A bracket is attached to the pier and also to the home's foundation footer. This transfers the weight of the home down into the pier to the competent soil giving the home the support that it needs.
A homeowner off of Maysville Road in Carlisle, Kentucky, reached out to us after years of dealing with water intrusion in their basement. Heavy rains would leave standing water along the foundation walls, and the area around the water heater was especially problematic. Not only was the basement unusable, but the homeowner was also worried about long-term damage to the structure.
To solve the problem, our crew installed a full WaterGuard interior drainage system along the basement perimeter to collect and direct water away. We added a SuperSump system to discharge the water safely out of the home, giving the homeowner peace of mind with a reliable pumping system. Around the water heater, we installed trench drains to capture any water before it could pool or cause damage.
With these solutions in place, the basement is now dry and protected from future leaks, turning it into a safe and healthy space for the homeowner.
This basement in Carlisle, KY, had a couple foundation walls that needed repaired. The damaged walls were actively shifting laterally inwards towards the inside of the basement due to built up hydrostatic pressure in the soil outside the home. We braced the walls with our PowerBraces in order to stabilize them. Our PowerBraces are made of galvanized steel to help prevent rusting. These braces don't just stabilize the wall, they can also be tightened throughout time through their specially designed top brackets to help straighten the wall back out. These specially designed top brackets have different variations depending on whether or not the floor joists in the ceiling are running perpendicular or parallel to the wall, (as seen in the attached photos). This helps us prevent floor joist/ceiling damage for when we tighten the braces on annual visits. The homeowner was very happy with our crews attention to detail and their communication skills.
