Sandy L called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky to see what options we offer to repair a wall that was bowing inward along the back side of the basement. Our specialist, Brian B, went out to inspect the problem and recommended that Sandy have our PowerBrace foundation wall repair system installed. The PowerBraces, which brace the floor from top to bottom, will stop any further inward bowing of the wall for the life of the structure. In addition, PowerBraces also have the potential to help straighten out the wall over time.
A homeowner in Berea, Kentucky was having problems with water, moisture, and mold starting on one wall of the crawl space. The crawlspace was 6ft tall with a gravel floor. We installed a CleanSpace Wall System, a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System, and a SaniDry Sedona to keep the humidity low.
A Richmond, Kentucky homeowner had just purchased the property and noticed that water was seeping into the basement near the floor. The home was built in the 1940s, has a block foundation, and did not have a sump pump system installed. the homeowner met with Damon, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a TrenchDrain, and a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is installed to resolve this problem.
The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system installed into the floor around the foundation walls. This piping system will intercept the water that is seeping into the basement and drain it into the sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement. The TrenchDrain is a piping system with a grated top. The grated drain sits flush with the floor and allows water to drain in from the top. These are commonly seen along doorways and basement hatches.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a high-end Zoeller pump. It comes with the WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner and Airtight Lid. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if there is a pump or power failure. This will alert the homeowner to a problem with the system that needs to be resolved. The SuperLiner is a rugged liner that will not cave in or crack. The Airtight Lid is strong enough that you can even stand on it. The Airtight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement, keeps objects from falling into the liner and quiets the pump.
These systems working together will give the homeowner a dry basement that can be used for storage without worries of water intrusion.
This Richmond, KY homeowner reached out to us after noticing a persistent musty odor in their home and rising energy bills. Their crawl space, like many in the area, had a dirt floor and minimal protection from moisture, leaving the space damp and vulnerable to mold, wood rot, and poor indoor air quality.
Our inspection confirmed their concerns. The crawl space had high humidity levels, signs of water intrusion, and exposed insulation that was falling down.
To fix the problem for good, our team performed a full crawl space encapsulation. We installed a CleanSpace® vapor barrier across the floor and walls to permanently separate the crawl space from the earth. Underneath, drainage matting allows water to drain properly toward a new SuperSump® pump system, keeping the area dry even during heavy rains.
We also insulated the walls with SilverGlo® rigid foam panels, helping to make the home more energy-efficient year-round. Finally, to control humidity and prevent mold growth, we installed a SaniDry Sedona™ dehumidifier, designed specifically for crawl spaces.
Thanks to these improvements, this homeowner now has a clean, dry, healthy crawl space — and peace of mind knowing their home is protected from the ground up.
A homeowner in Waco, Kentucky had a retaining wall on their property that had started to lean and bow inward over time. The wall was showing clear signs of structural failure, putting pressure on the surrounding soil and creating safety concerns. If left unaddressed, the wall would have continued to shift, eventually leading to complete failure and costly damage to the property.
To stabilize the wall and prevent further movement, our team installed 10 helical anchors, securing the retaining wall back into the stable soil beyond the pressure zone. These steel anchors were driven deep into the ground and then tensioned to hold the wall in place. This method provided immediate stabilization and long-term protection against soil pressure and shifting.
With the anchors in place, the retaining wall is now secure, protecting the property from further damage and giving the homeowner peace of mind. If you're dealing with a leaning or bowing retaining wall in Waco or the surrounding areas, our team has the tools and expertise to help.
