A Shelbyville, Kentucky homeowner was having problems with water seeping into the basement through cracks in the foundation walls. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky and met with Matt, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that FlexiSpan Crack Repair System and BrightWall Panels be installed to resolve this problem for the homeowner.
FlexiSpan Wall Crack Repair is a patented crack repair system developed by Basement Systems. The FlexiSpan Crack Repair goes beyond epoxy or urethane injection and repairs the crack permanently and it works every time! FlexiSpan Crack Repair system uses a bead of sealant, a FlexiSpan Foam Drain Strip, and a sealant overlay. The bead of sealant will, in most cases, stop the water from seeping into the basement. If there is any water at all that gets past the sealant the water will drain into the foam strip and into the drainage below. A sealant overlay is applied over the repair creating a sealed patch from top to bottom.
BrightWall Panels are 4x8 sheets of plastic paneling attached to the walls with special drilled-in fasteners. The BrightWall Panels stop water from permeating your walls and drain wall leaks down into the drainage below.

This customer was worried that a crack in their basement wall would cause problems for them after they dry wall and finish their basement. It was quite a significant crack, and the customer was right in their assumption that it would likely lead to waterproof issues when they put in their dry wall. Not to mention, cracks usually expand and worsen over time. First, we seal the crack with high-grade polyurethane which should never fail. In the case that it does fail, 95% of the water will be stopped and the remainder will flow through the secondary drainage system in the wall to the homes main drainage system. Some houses already have our WaterGuard for their main drainage system, while others will have to have a 5-10 gallon tank sitting below the basement floor. The result is a clean looking finish that is guaranteed to never result in a leak again. The homeowner can now finish their basement without the worry of a leakage destroying their renovated basement.
