Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Encapsulating a crawl space resolves moisture problems in Gray, KY

Album Description

A homeowner in Gray, Kentucky was having problems with moisture in the crawlspace and was interested in an encapsulation system.  The home has a block foundation, a sump pump had not been installed.  He called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky and scheduled an appointment with a Certified Inspector who recommended CleanSpace Encapsulation system with CleanSpace liner and Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Vent Covers, and an EverLast door to seal the crawl space.  He also recommended a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System and an UltraSump Battery Back-up System to drain the water out of the crawl space.  SilverGlo and Rim Joist Insulation to insulate against cold air and humidity and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to keep the humidity low.

The CleanSpace Drainage Matting has dimples throughout the matting to give the water a channel to reach the drainage system to be pumped out of the crawl space.  The CleanSpace Liner is a bright white plastic liner that provides a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home.  CleanSpace Vent Covers cover the existing vents to help provide an airtight seal.  The EverLast Door also helps to seal the crawl space and protect against water and debris from entering the crawl space.

The SmartSump is designed especially for crawl spaces.  It has a WaterWatch Alarm that sounds during times of pump or power failure to alert the homeowner to a problem in the crawl space.  The UltraSump Battery Back-up System also sounds an alarm to alert the homeowner.  It will automatically come on during pump or power failures giving the homeowner added protection from water intrusion.

SilverGlo Insulation is made for crawl spaces and has graphite infused into it.  The shiny particles reflect heat back into the crawl space.  Rim Joist Insulation blocks air from seeping in at the rim joist, which is the board above the foundation at the perimeter of the flooring system.  Unconditioned air seeping in makes the floors and house cold in the winter and humidity and condensation in the summer.  Both of these conditions can make the house uncomfortable.

And lastly, the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier.  The SaniDry dries and purifies the air.  This will keep the humidity low.  Having the humidity low will make your whole home drier and healthier.
